This paper aims to focus on the education of the children of Filipino women living in Tokunoshima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture to figure out their career path after junior high school and the situation of the inheritance of Filipino culture … from their mothers. Based on the data from questionnaires and interviews, the following findings were identified. On the topic of career path, first, the children can be grouped into two: those who enter senior high school inside the island and those who enter outside the island. Second, most of the children who have already obtained jobs or gotten married live outside the island. Regarding the inheritance of Filipino culture, first, Filipino women put Catholic teaching into practice mainly in the early childhood of their children but the inheritance of Catholic teaching is limited. Second, Filipino women rarely show how to cook Filipino cuisines and perform ethnic dances in local communities and schools leaving their children fewer opportunities to inherit their Filipino culture. However, a large event celebrating the Philippines was held in November, 2018 for the first time in a long time. Some children of the Filipino women enjoyed taking part in it and the Filipino women were happy to introduce their culture not only to their children but also to the children in their local community. The future development of how this event will have influence on the career path and the inheritance of Filipino culture needs to be observed.
