概要: This paper analyses the Burajiru-Okinawa-Colonia-go (Brazilian-Okinawan community language), i.e., the language spoken in the Okinawan community of Brazil, from the Language Contact Theory point of view. In the Brazilian-Okinawan community, contact occurs between many regional dialects of Ryukyuan, the mainland Japanese dialects, the Japanese variation spoken by Okinawans, and naturally, with Brazilian- Portuguese. This linguistic contact causes (1) language change of the first-language (L1) due to lexical and grammatical borrowing, and (2) the birth of broken languages as a result of L1 influence in the process of second-language (L2) acquisition. First, in this paper, these two phenomena are examined through the analysis of the Ryukyuan, Japanese, and Portuguese spoken by the first and second generations. Second, this paper diagrams the language family tree of the Burajiru-Okinawa-Colonia-go. And finally, an attempt is made to classify it as pidgin, creole, interlanguage, or mixed language, by analyzing its linguistic and social characteristics. 続きを見る

概要: In Brazil, -the largest Japanese immigrant community in the world-, reside about 1.5 million Japanese descents (immigrants and their descendants) of which 10% are Okinawan. The Okinawans who migrated to Brazil carried a peculiar language with them. Their language has changed with the immigrant society in a long history. Their Portuguese language was acquired during their assimilation in Brazil. As a result, they created a combination of standard Portuguese and their mother tongue. This paper argues that the language of the Brazilian Okinawan immigrant society developed from the contact of four languages: Okinawan dialect, Portuguese, Ryukyu Creoloid (originated by the contact of a Okinawan dialect and standard Japanese) and Colonia-go (originated by the contact of Portuguese and Japanese various dialects). In Brazil, due to social changes such as inter-racial marriage and generational assimilation, the maintenance of Japanese and Okinawan dialect has become difficult. Because the four language interaction is at its apex today in the Okinawan community, we must continue research in this four language contact ASAP. In this paper, the vocabulary, phoneme, and grammatical features of the first generation's language development is described through analysis of actual conversations.<br />No Brasil , está presente a maior comunidade imigrante japonesa de todo o mundo e nela vivem cerca de 1.5 milhões de nipônicos (imigrantes e seus descendentes), sendo que 10% são okinawanos.
