he first time from Japanese waters based on material collected from Oura Bay in Okinawa Island of the Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan. This represents the third record of the species and extends the distribution range more northward and eastward than the previous record from the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea. The present two specimens occurred as a heterosexual pair in a tube of an unidentified species of the polychaete genus Chaetopterus Cuvier, 1830. This symbiotic habit has been also known for many of the other species of the P. sinensis group to which P. haigae belongs.

標本と同様に, 右殻表面に折れ曲がって重なり合う特徴的な鱗片状突起が確認され, また, この突起構造は左殻にも見られることが明らかとなった. 一方, 少なくとも本種のパラタイプ標本の一部には鱗片状突起が見らない個体が含まれており, C. cerion のパラタイプ標本にはホロタイプ標本とは異なる種 (おそらく未記載種) が含まれている可能性が示唆された. 本種の生貝記録は, トンガ王国ニウエ島で採集された一例のみとされてきたが, このパラタイプ標本はC. cerion ではない可能性があることから, 本報告が本種の確実な生貝の初記録となる. また, 本種が海底洞窟内のアンキアライン環境 (暗黒下かつ低塩分環境) に生息することも明らかとなった.
The rare chamid bivalve, Chama cerion Matsukuma, Paulay & Hamada, 2003, is recorded from submarine caves in Okinawa-jima Island and Ie-jima Island of the Okinawa Island Group, and Shimoji-jima Island of the Miyako Island Group, Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan. The specimens examined possessed bent over, overlapping scales that characterize the outer surface of right valve of the holotype of C. cerion, and these characteristic scales were also found in the left valve. On the other hand, these characteristic scales were not found in a paratype examined in this study. This indicates that at least one paratype is not conspecific to the holotype and they seem to consist of more than two species, including a potentially undescribed species. All the specimens of C. cerion from the Ryukyu Islands have been found in anchialine environments of submarine caves (darkness and low salinity conditions), and these records represent the first definite findings of living individuals of C. cerion. 続きを見る |

This is the first distributional record of the species from outside Miyako-jima Island. The species is morphologically very similar to M. xmas, but the specimen was identified as M. miyakoense based on the eye stalk width, rostral shapes, and their distribution. Our observation indicates that these two species could not be identified based on one of diagnostic characters proposed in the original description (the number of teeth on the post-rostral margin of the carapace).

ghost shrimp Lepidophthalmus tridentatus (von Martens, 1868), although literature records of the species are rather scarce. The specimens examined in this study were collected from Amami-ohshima Island, the Okinawa Islands and the Yaeyama Islands. The species was found to burrow in soft sediments in intertidal to shallow subtidal zones, particularly in estuaries and mangrove areas. A detailed description of the species is provided to show evidence of the identification, as well as diagnostic details not mentioned in previous literature. Some comments on the taxonomy of the genus Lepidophthalmus are also given.
琉球諸島から採集された標本に基づき, スナモグリ科の一種Lepidophthalmus tridentatus (von Martens, 1868) (新称: ミツトゲヤワスナモグリ) を報告する. 本種はスリランカ〜フィリピン･インドネシア・ビスマルク諸島におよぶ範囲から記録されていたが, 文献での報告は少ない. 本種の日本における出現は，これまでいくつかの文献で示唆されていたが，標本に基づいた記録と形態の記載はなされていなかった. 本研究により検討された標本は奄美大島を北限に, 沖縄諸島, 久米島, 八重山諸島 (石垣島, 西表島) から採集され, これらの島嶼の河口域やマングローブ林内あるいは周辺の砂泥干潟に普通に生息することが明らかとなった. 産地によっては, かなりの高密度で巣穴が認められた. 同定の根拠を明らかにすることと種の認識にあたり有用な形態形質を明示することを目的として詳細な記載を与えた. さらに, Lepidophthalmus (新称: ヤワスナモグリ属) の分類の現状と種構成についていくつかコメントを与えた. 論文 続きを見る |
