the Pacific coast of Boso Peninsula (Chiba Prefecture) and Ishigaki-jima Island (Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa Prefecture), represent the first confirmed records of the species from those prefectures. Previous records of the species in the Pacific coast of Japanese waters have been limited to west of Kanagawa Prefecture, with records from Okinawa Prefecture being unconfirmed or lacking detailed locality data.
千葉県南房総市沖および沖縄県石垣島近海において, キントキダイ科魚類の1種, ミナミキントキPriacanthus sagittarius Starnes, 1988が1個体ずつ採集された. 本種は日本の太平洋沿岸において神奈川県以西からのみ知られていたほか, 沖縄県における証拠標本に基づく確実な記録がなかったことから, 本報告は標本に基づく本種の千葉県と沖縄県における初めての記録となる. 続きを見る |

ts the first record of E. rivulatus from the Tokara Islands. The previous records of the species in Kagoshima Prefecture exist only from Tanega-shima (Osumi Islands) and Amami-oshima islands. In addition, a photographic record of Epinephelus retouti previously reported from Tanega-shima Island is shown to be a misidentification of E. rivulatus, and thus there are no confirmed records of E. retouti from Tanega-shima Island to date.
鹿児島市中央卸売市場魚類市場にトカラ列島諏訪之瀬島南方において漁獲された1個体のハタ科魚類シモフリハタEpinephelus rivulatusが水揚げされた. 本種は日本国内において長崎県, 三重県から八重山諸島にかけてと, 伊豆諸島, および小笠原諸島の広域から報告されていたが, 鹿児島県における記録は種子島と奄美大島からのものに限られる. したがって, 本研究の記載標本は本種のトカラ列島における初めての記録となる. また, シモフリハタの日本国内における記録を再検討したところ, 種子島からシモフリハタがアカハタモドキに誤同定されて報告されていることが明らかとなると同時に, アカハタモドキの大隅諸島における記録は口永良部島からのものに限られることが明らかとなった. 論文 続きを見る |

Forty-one specimens (16.8–48.5 mm standard length) of Small-banded Round Herring, Spratelloides atrofasciatus Schultz, 1943 (Clupeiformes: Spratelloididae), previously known only from the southern Ryukyu Islands (Takara Island and southward) in Japan, were collected from Kuchinoerabu (Osumi Islands), Taira (in the middle of Tokara Islands), and Yoron (southern limit of the Amami Islands) islands, in the Satsunan Islands (northern Ryukyu Islands), Japan. 奄美大島の魚類相を報告したNakae et al. (2018)においてシマガツオBrama japonicaとして報告された標本を精査したところ，ヒメシマガツオBrama dussumieriに再同定された．ヒメシマガツオは全世界の暖海に広く分布するが，琉球列島においてはこれまで沖縄島，久高島，および八重山列島からのみ記録されていた．したがって，本研究の記載標本は本種の奄美群島における初めての記録となる．また，シマガツオの奄美大島における正確な記録がないことが明らかとなった. 論文 続きを見る |

In addition, the morphology of this species is poorly known especially in small individuals, and thus detailed morphology of the specimens collected from southern Japan are described. The present specimens show that this species is widely distributed in southern Japan.

Because the species has been generally reported only from south of the Miyako Islands in the Ryukyu Archipelago (except for a single non specimen-based record from Okinawa-jima Island), the present specimen represents the first reliable record of the species from Okinawa-jima Island.
